NOTICE OF YOUR FINANCIAL PRIVACY RIGHTS

We, our, and us, when used in this notice, mean SouthFirst Bank.
This is our privacy notice for our customers. When we use the words “you” and “your” we mean the following types of customers:

  • Our consumer customers who have a continuing relationship by purchasing or holding financial products or services such as a(n):
    • Deposit account
    • Loan account
    • Safe Deposit Box
    • All IRA accounts for which we act as custodian

We will tell you the sources of the information we collect about you and what measures we take to secure that information.

The following are terms that you should be aware of:

  • Nonpublic personal information means information about you that we collect in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. Nonpublic personal information does not include information that is available from public sources, such as telephone directories or government records. We will use the term “information” to mean nonpublic personal information as we have just defined.
     
  • An affiliate is a company we own or control, a company that owns or controls us, or a company that is owned or controlled by the same company that's owns or controls us. Ownership does not mean complete ownership, but means owning enough to have control.
     
  • A nonaffiliated third party is a person we do not employ or a company that is not an affiliate of ours. This is also known as simply an “other party.”

THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information about you from the following sources:
Information you give us on applications or other forms
Information about your transactions with us
Information about your transactions with other parties
Information from a consumer reporting agency
Information we receive through our Customer Identification Program

THE CONFIDENTIALITY, SECURITY AND INTEGRITY OF YOUR INFORMATION

We restrict access to information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect this information.

Information we May Share Within Our Corporate Family About You – Unless you Tell Us Not To
Unless you tell us not to, we may share with all of the companies in our corporate family information about you including:

  • Information we obtain from your application, or other form,
  • Transaction and experience information from our account records,
  • Information about your transactions and experience with us, such as:
    • Name, Address, Account Balances

Unless you tell us not to, we may disclose information about you to the following types of affiliates:

  • Financial Service Providers, such as Investment/Insurance Services

If you do not want us to share this information within our corporate family, you may tell us not to do so by doing any of the following:

  • Call the Customer Service Department toll-free at 1-800-239-1492 or at 256-245-4365 during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, or
     
  • Come in or call any SouthFirst Bank office, or
     

  • Send your request in writing to SouthFirst Bank , Attn:
     
  • Customer Service Department, PO Box 167, Sylacauga, AL 35150. (Please include your full name, Social Security Number, account and/or loan numbers, address and telephone number.)

If we do not hear from you within 30 days, we may begin sharing this information with companies in our corporate family.

For joint account relationships, if any one customer requests that this information not be shared, that request will apply to all joint account holders.

YOUR INFORMATION AND OTHER PARTIES

We will not disclose information about you to anyone except as disclosed in this policy or as permitted by law. Examples of this might include disclosures necessary to service your account or prevent unauthorized transactions.

INFORMATION ABOUT FORMER CUSTOMERS

We do not disclose information about former customers, except as permitted by law.

At SouthFirst Bank our customers are our top priority. We respect your financial privacy and understand that confidentiality is an important reason you chose SouthFirstBank for your financial needs. Your concerns about privacy have been considered in the way we conduct business, from our computer applications to the methods we use to train our associates, your privacy is very important to us.

Since we place such a high priority of financial privacy, we would like to suggest the following points that you can do to protect your privacy:

  1. Never give any financial information to anyone over the phone or through e-mail, unless you make the call. This includes such things as your social security number or any credit card numbers.
     
  2. Always shred financial documents instead of just throwing them away.
     
  3. Keep any PIN numbers that you have private.
     
  4. Obtain a copy of your credit report annually and carefully review it for any discrepancies.
